Dr. Kevin Hall received his Doctorate from Parker College of Chiropractic in 2005. Dr. Hall has had much success in natural healing arts and has extensive training in natural medicine. Although his original training is in chiropractic, He also practices functional Medicine.  Functional medicine is a unique approach to health that solves the root of the problem rather than masking it like traditional medicine.

Dr. Hall takes a holistic approach in his patient care. He believes the body has an innate ability to heal itself once one removes the chemical, physical and emotional stress that burdens the body. When a person experiences poor health, it is do to an imbalance in one or more of these areas. He believes in a natural, drug-less, non-invasive approach to fixing ones health.

He continues to dedicate himself to learning the most current health information and techniques. Dr. Hall has completed over 1,000 hours of continuing education in Applied Kinesiology, Functional medicine, Brimhall Protocol, Gonstead Technique, Neuro Emotional Technique(NET), Torque Release Technique, Cold Laser Therapy, Activator Technique, Myofascial Release, Applied Neurology, Nutrition, Herbals, and Detoxification Programs.

He began his path of healing at the Austin School of Massage Therapy and then earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree and certification in Applied Kinesiology(AK) at Parker College of Chiropractic.

Dr. Hall enjoys educating his patients on the benefits of  living a healthy, energetic, and active lifestyle. He is passionate about helping others achieve Optimal Health and Wellness.

To further understand our basic philosophical approach to wellness, Lets start with some science and a couple key definitions. First, let’s define  What is Health by using fundamentals scientific Truths regarding Health and Sickness.

Homeostasis Definitionthe tendency of a system, especially the physiological system of higher animals, to maintain internal stability,? to the coordinated response of its parts to any situation or stimulus that would tend to disturb its normal condition or function.

Innate Intelligence definition-  Innate (inborn) Intelligence is the force responsible for the organization, maintenance and healing of the body’s Innate Intelligence, as an explanation for the presence of intelligence in an organism is in conflict with the overwhelmingly scientifically supported evolution by means of natural selection, neuroscience and genetics.

Health will be defined  by using 10 fundamentals scientific Truths regarding Health and Sickness

  1. All living things, including humans are composed of individual cells working harmoniously together in a self healing and self regulating ecosystem to maintain homeostasis, health and life.
  2. Our cells are innately or genetically equipped from birth with all the necessary intelligence to function properly. Our cells are programmed for homeostasis and health and they Never dysfunction without a physical, emotional, chemical or spiritual stressor.
  3. Our cells are genetically programmed with the perfect recipe for health. It is our choices and our living environment that determined whether or not the proper ingredients are supplied.
  4. Health by definition is a state of consistent homeostatic cell function
  5. Sickness by definition is a lack of consistent homeostatic cell function. Sickness is a lack of health just as darkness is a lack of light.
  6. The function of our cells is determines our states of health and sickness
  7. Anything that causes a disruption of homeostasis to a cell is a stressor
  8. All stresses can be divided into one of two categories.  1. Deficiencies in the required ingredients for homeostatic cell function.
  9. Because cells are born with all the required innate genetic intelligence for homeostasis and health, cells always function perfectly in relationship to any given environment. symptoms do not represent an error in the intelligence of cells. symptoms represent important symptoms telling you that something is wrong. That there is a deficiency or toxicity and that they’re under stress.
  10. You can only be as healthy as your cells and in order for them to function correctly all the requirements must be met and and be free of toxins.

Lets talk nutrition: We follow many guidelines of an innate diet, very similar to the paleo diet.

One of our major goals is to address as many deficiencies and toxicities as possible. A majority of this process is done through diet, supplementation and safe detoxification methods.

Let’s go over the 5 most important concepts.

  1. Our genes are programmed for health.  It is toxicity and/or deficiencies affecting gene expression that leads to sickness. It’s not the genes fault!
  2. Our genes do not differ from our paleolithic, hunter-gatherer, pre-agriculture, pre-industrial ancestors.
  3. Our ancestors did not die from our modern diseases. cancer, diabetes, and strokes or suffer from autoimmune diseases like MS, arthritis, lupus, chronic fatigue.
  4. The only differences between our healthy ancestors and our sick society is toxicity and deficiency. The genes are the same.
  5. Modern illness is due to our environment, NOT genetic factors. Modern illnesses are avoidable; Modern health is Attainable.

Do you see why foods and vital nutrients are so important? Following an innate diet as closely as possible is EXTREMElY vital to succeeding on this program.

Another one of our core philosophical approach to wellness is to reduce as much dis-stress to the body as possible.  Whether it’s chemical, physical, or emotional stress, they all have the same physiological process.

It must be emphasized that the physiological changes associated with acute stress response are absolutely necessary for survival in a stressful environment. However, we are not designed to be in an acute fight or flight situation for days, weeks, months or years. Let’s review the physiological changes when you’re stressed.

  8. decreased anabolic hormones like growth, testosterone, and luteinizing hormone.

  11. decreased REM sleep
  12. increased sensitivity of sensory systems including pain
  13. decreased digestion function

This predictable stress process is scientifically proven and now accepted as fact. Yet most people don’t know this.  This chronic stress pattern is the underlying cause of nearly every major killer in our society! Heart disease, stroke, cancer, diabetes, depression, anxiety, indigestion and etc… you get the picture.

Now the best journals in the world are finally openly stating that virtually all chronic diseases including cancers are preventable with healthy lifestyle changes. These are all just lifestyle diseases.  So in reality most Americans are treating a nutritional deficiency and toxicity problems with another toxin called drugs. I suggest the common sense approach would be to just identify as many stressors as possible and then remove them from your life. There are so many hidden stressors that are causing havoc on your health.  GMO foods, Fluoride, artificial sweeteners, WiFi and Smart Meters are good examples of these silent killers.

Acupuncture Several thousand years ago, East Asian practitioners discovered that the body forms disharmonies as a result of the various physical and mental stresses of life. Oriental medical theory explains these disharmonies as an imbalance of opposing forces called yin and yang. This imbalance disrupts the movement of the body’s vital energy (qi) along the meridian pathways, which are channels through which the body’s energy is thought to flow. Acupuncture restores the smooth flow of qi. By inserting and manipulating needles at specific points on the body, I am able to return the body to its natural balance and promote the body’s ability to heal itself.

Chiropracticis a healthcare discipline that emphasizes the inherent recuperative power of the body to heal itself without the use of drugs or surgery. The practice of chiropractic focuses on the relationship between structure (primarily the spine) and function (as coordinated by the nervous system) and how that relationship affects the preservation and restoration of health. In addition, doctors of chiropractic recognize the value and responsibility of working in cooperation with other health care practitioners when in the best interest of the patient.

Functional medicine is personally tailored medicine. It deals with primary prevention and underlying causes of chronic disease rather than simply removing or masking symptoms once they arise. Functional medicine emphasizes true healing, treatment of the person rather than a disease, and a partnership of joint responsibility between doctor and patient, with the patient carrying most of the load. It also embraces the most current science in diagnosing early abnormalities that eventually lead to chronic illness.  Functional medicine uses botanicals and other forms of nutritional supplementation rather than pharmaceutical agents that create high levels of stress damage to an individual—sometimes hidden for years and sometimes irreversible. Under the influence of functional medicine, “old age” is not what it used to be, anti-aging is now a science, and optimized living is the “new normal” for people of every age.

In light of the above points, I view functional medicine as a complement to the acute care of traditional medicine and not an alternative. Systems of health protection should work together where possible. One approach cannot serve everyone all the time.  Chronic disease, as a rule, is slow to develop. Examples are diabetes, cardiovascular damage, hypertension, low thyroid function, cancer, mental illness, autoimmune disorders like rheumatoid arthritis, and back problems. Long-term predictions for such chronic diseases keep rising because the physical, emotional, and mental effects of stress are overwhelming us as a western culture. This stress comes from a poor diet, a toxic environment, drugs, accidents, nervous system impairments, emotional reactions to life, mental overload, lack of exercise, and insufficient or poor sleep. Even falling in love is stressful (eustress)!

Diabetes is quickly becoming an epidemic. Traditional medicine is planning to target “high risk” individuals with ever-more dramatic drug interventions. Researchers, of course, hope to enhance quality of life (or at least long-term grants) while Big Pharma hopes to enhance profits. Yet, the physical, emotional, mental, and economic side effects of drug interventions leave us with a sobering message, one having little to do with healing or quality of life. Isn’t it an ideal time for that “reality check”?

Functional medicine works to keep you from becoming a high-risk disease candidate in the first place. The rule is simple: prevent disease states from developing now so there are no symptoms to “treat” later. But if you already happen to be riding the risk rollercoaster (typical for people over 30), you can start reversing some or most of the acquired stress damage by enabling your body to heal itself. This is very different from suppressing disease signs or symptoms with drugs, as is done with statins, thyroid, or diabetes meds to make lab measurements look better.

Here’s the catch. People must qualify themselves to follow the prevention approaches of functional medicine and optimized living. Although a prevention or wellness lifestyle is highly rewarding, it is not for the timid. The problem is that most people have fallen victims to the harmful mental pattern of hoping rather than (pro)acting. They hope they will somehow fare better than others whom they know are suffering degraded lifestyles. Hope, however, doesn’t have a good track record for preventing chronic disease. But hey, it’s easy to hope! No heavy lifting required.

So, what are some of the harmful mental patterns you may inadvertently hold because of Big Five Stress Agent influences? Here are a few examples. Do any fit you?

    • You’ll pop a pill as a quick fix for almost anything to improve your short-term quality of life.
    • You think your doctor’s job is to take charge of your health and “fix” you when symptoms arise.
    • Your physical activity has decreased with each passing year because you think you’re supposed to slow down as your calendar age rises.
  • You want your body to act and recover as it did in your teens and 20s. Hint: It can’t and won’t without ongoing lifestyle adjustments.

Please consider this:  Most cancers incubate 10 years or more before they are finally detectible. An even longer incubation period applies to the metabolic abnormalities that lead to diabetes and heart disease.  What environmental stressors and biological imbalances occur during those incubation years to serve as such fertile ground for cancer, heart disease, and diabetes? It’s the job of functional medicine to answer such questions and provide tailored rebalancing programs for individuals before or after they find themselves needing drugs, surgery, or medical appliances.

The bad news, I’m sure by now you’re aware of, is how far off you are from an optimal innate diet. That can actually be great news because your healing potential is that much  greater. Now you know that YOU have the potential to drastically improve your health and well being. It is very attainable. You just have decide you want it bad enough. Unfortunately most of people alive today have never experienced really good health. With this knowledge You now have that potential.

Most people compare themselves to other sick people and think they’re doing pretty good.  Do you think Lance Armstrong thought he was healthy right before finding out he had cancer? I bet he did.  Symptoms are not always a good sign of health or sickness.. Imagine if 2 guys both drank a half gallon of liquor each and one guy was throwing up profusely and the other guy just fell asleep. Who would you say had the healthy response? That’s right! The sick one throwing up. Don’t be fooled by symptoms.
